Product Description Halo 3 is the third game in the Halo Trilogy and the thrilling conclusion to the events begun in Halo: Combat Evolved. Master Chief returns to finish the fight, bringing the epic conflict between the Covenant, the Flood, and the entire human race to a dramatic, pulse-pounding climax. The Covenant occupation of Earth has uncovered a massive and ancient object beneath the African sands - an object whose secrets have yet to be revealed. Earth's forces are battered and beaten. The Master Chief's AI companion Cortana is still trapped in the clutches of the Gravemind - a horrifying Flood intelligence, and a civil war is raging in the heart of the Covenant. It's all been building to this -- a desperate, final war that leads to a soul-shattering climax of epic proportions. Take control of Master Chief to defeat the Covenant and destroy the Flood to prevent the annihilation of the human race.

Earth is conquered. The Covenant is everywhere. Halo 3 promises to be an epic journey. View larger. | Game developer Bungie announced that Halo 3 will be released for Microsoft's Xbox 360 sometime in 2007. The game was revealed to the world at the Microsoft press conference held at Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood, CA in May 2006. To gamer's delight, the announcement was a complete surprise. The rumors have been abound for the past year, as everyone wondered when the next installment would be ready. Bungie and Microsoft did a stellar job keeping their lips sealed, and fans benefited from their first glimpse of the hallowed third and final installment. The short presentation was delivered in real-time on the Xbox 360 using the current version of the Halo 3 game engine. That's right, no studio production video, Bungie and Microsoft delivered the real deal: what they showed at the announcement is what gamers will see when they play Halo 3 in 2007. The HDR lighting, self-shadowing, GPU-run particle system and many other effects are rumored to show up in full effect in the final game. Needless to say, the gaming community is salivating. CJ Cowan, Bungie's director of cinematics discussed one of the most startling moments of the presentation: the return of Cortana. "Given the variety of character and story arcs at the end of Halo 2, we wanted to boil down our announcement to a few key threads. Cortana and the Chief being a galaxy apart is a situation we haven't seen before, and is something that is a powerful component to Halo 3. We are using her transmissions in the demo to give the viewer a few subtle clues to her situation and state of mind, without revealing any specifics we want to save for the game itself." Graphically, the game closely follows in the tradition of Halo 2, although it has been upgraded to take advantage of the Xbox 360's more prodigious visual abilities. As art direct Marcus Lehto explained, "[The presentation] was intended to be an understated announcement of Halo 3 -- the tone is that of mystery and suspense -- the calm before the storm. I wanted to make sure that we reintroduced the Chief, showed that Earth was thoroughly conquered, with Covenant everywhere, and that there is a glorious, ancient artifact buried under the Earth's crust which will provide Halo 3 with the epic journey which we all want." Taking full advantage of the power of Xbox 360, Halo 3 expands on everything that has made the franchise great, adding a wealth of technical and gameplay advancements. The game design has evolved with next-generation, high-definition visuals, enhanced A.I., an advanced real-time lighting engine, and, of course, new weapons, characters, and challenges. Halo 3 promises an unparalleled first-person shooter experience and, in the end, the most compelling and engrossing story in the franchise's history. Last, but certainly not least, Halo 3 builds upon the unique social multiplayer experience and innovative, evolving online gameplay of Halo 2. Rest assured, you'll still be able to run with your clan and battle with (or against) your buddies from coast to coast.

Best game ever January 7, 2009 Game was great only bad parts are the sound and how short the single player is
A big improvement from Halo 2! January 7, 2009 I purchased this game around Thanksgiving with an open mind. As an avid PC FPS player, the original Halo and Halo 2 dissapointed me, mainly the single player aspect. Halo 3 on the other hand managed to really surprise me. The single player is great! Varied level design, lots of different vehicles, and a good story help break up what used to be a boring trek through levels that all looked the same. The multiplayer aspect is of course, the best. One thing I love is that Bungie supports this game very well and they update the multiplayer play lists every week. Thanks to updates like these, this game will be sitting in your 360 for months and maybe even years!
The reason I gave it 4 stars is because the graphics are a bit disappointing, especially when compared to Call of Duty 4/5. Also the amount of loading in multiplayer compared to the Call of Duty series is long. It really breaks up some of the multiplayer experience when you are waiting and waiting for another game. That being said, these are just minor grievances and the game will most certainly satisfy you.
Call of Duty vs. Halo January 5, 2009 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have them both. I bought my 360 earlier this year so i never had a predetermined bias of either. I originally bought Halo 3. The campaign is fun, i enjoy the usage of vehicals and how you can hijack and actually take them out (unlike the tanks in CoD 5). The online can keep you entertained for hours. Yeah the match set up is slow and they need maps, but you can buy them in marketplace. Call of Duty 4 is also a great game. Its much more realistic. Falling can kill you and the guns actually do damage. However, its a video game, so if being realistic is whats important go for Call of Duty. Lets not forget Halo 3 is meant to be a Sci-Fi action shooter. All 3 have great online multiplayer, so it really depends what kind of a mood you're in for gaming. Realistic Hardcore Military, or Sci-Fi Action. I will keep switching for how I feel. No one ever said you have to put all of your eggs in one basket. Neither is worse. They're just different.
Halo Does it again! January 4, 2009 WOW! A few months was worth the wait!Even though im kind of getting bored of it because it is my only game for my 360. Ive played Halo and Halo 2. Pros and Cons: Cons: -Forge Money Buget, i dont like that, beacuse we should have unlimited things and infinate money(Without Glitching). -Multiplayer Energy sword, since they put a limited charge, it will change online gameplay with it. Pros: Good storyline, great graphics, more optioins when creating your own Custom Game.
Halo Forever! Continued December 31, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Microsoft has done it again! Another great game for a great console. Out of all the Halos I'd say that Halo 3 is the best. The levels are so freakin awesome! So is the allies, weapons, enemies, etc. etc. There are so many cool weapons and vehicles. For instance, they made another warthog that can hold 5 or 6 marines (they can all shot from it as well!). Also they made a new weapon that can shoot laser and kill a brute in 1 shot! Plus the weapons in Halo and Halo 2 got better. The sub-machine gun in Halo 2 was aweful. When you shot it the weapon started to go up and it wasn't very powerful. Now in Halo 3, when you shoot it, it stays concentrated on your enemy and is alot more powerful. That's all I'm going to tell you. You'll just have to buy it and see what it is like yourself. Trust me you won't be let down! GET IT TODAY!
